Aussie Cops get Alfa Romeo MiTo Police Car

We won't go as far as calling it an interceptor, but Sydney's Rose Bay Police is the latest law enforcement force in Australia to get an Alfa Romeo police car. The MiTo is the most recent in a series of cars provided by the Italian automaker to police forces around Australia.

VIDEO: Dropped 2010 Camaro SS on Hydraulics

Is this what the kids are into nowadays? If so, well...good for them. I've never been into the huge lowrider / airbag / hydraulic culture, but I'm glad to see it's thriving; it's a different take on the car scene. If anyone's wondering what a 2010 Camaro SS capable of "hitting three's with ease" looks like, here you go. The info / details start at around 2:00.

Electric Throwback: The Meguru Bamboo Trike

Found on Japan Trends, this is the brainchild of Kinki Knives Industry Corp. and the Yodogawa Group. Called the Meguru, it's a little electric trike with an iron body painted in a retro shade of lacquer.

That's appropriate, considering its target market: scenic, traditional towns and cities. It's like a little city runabout you'd see in an early Bond movie. It even has bamboo floors and those awesome fan doors.

Unbelievable: Dog Found Trapped Inside Car's Bumper After Being Hit on the Highway!

If you found yesterday's [video] story with a man dodging an oncoming automobile mind-boggling, then you're definitely going to love this one.

An unnamed man from Santiago, Chile, hit a dog with his car on the local highway. The driver, certain that the dog had met its maker after the impact, decided to find a repair shop to inspect the condition of his vehicle.

Half an hour later he arrived at a repair shop, but the minor blemishes to the vehicle's front-end wasn't what caught everyone's attention. Believe it or not, it was the dog that had been trapped inside the car's bumper after the impact! Amazingly, the four-legged animal was alive having suffered only a broken leg! Watch the video after the jump.

If anything else, the man seen in this video (from a security camera) dodging an out-of-control vehicle heading his way has some awesome reflexes... Unfortunately, we don't have any details on the incident so we can't give you an answer to as why the driver of the car abandoned his vehicle and started running down the road. Watch the clip after the jump.

Donahue-Driven Champion AMC Javelin Trans-Am up for Sale for $950,000

Found in the Canepa Collection is this 1971 AMC Javelin Trans-Am champion. It's said to be the only car built by Roger Penske Racing in 1971, and the last car driven by Mark Donahue before he retired from Trans-Am.

According to the seller's description, this 1971 car was actually a 1970 racer that was re-bodied as a '71. After a 2nd-place 1970 season, Penske must have thought they already had a good thing in the chassis.

For the 1971 season, the Javelin got wider fenders and a new spoiler in order to help dominate the track.

VIDEO: Driving in Dubai is Never Boring...

Judging by this video, someone in Dubai was having one of those days; you know, when you just need to cause a bunch of mayhem on the interstate.

Initially there's just some old Toyota truck doing burnouts across five lanes of traffic (pretty normal, right?), but then someone else decides to get involved by doing a two-wheel side-stand in their SUV. That's really all there is to be said about this video, so enjoy it after the jump.

Topless Chevrolet Trailblazer for Sale

Seating for seven, 4-wheel-drive, and no top. No, it's not a Defender 110 on safari, it's this 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer that's been converted (or cannibalized) for Rose Bowl parade duty. Seller Jeff is hoping to get $15,000 for the car, but it's not even really a convertible. It's just topless. On the upside, it's only covered 29,500 miles. If sold, this one's probably going to a collector of the weird.

Mercedes-Benz Reprises Role in Sex and the City 2 Film [with Video]

Question for our readers: In your opinion, how do four cougar-aged women who can't keep their panties (or their brains) on after one shot of tequila and a guy named 'Mr Big' relate to Daimler's Mercedes-Benz and Maybach products/brand?

While you think about it let us tell you that, as with the first installment of the male-snoozefest that is "Sex and the City", the sequel to the movie that hits cinemas on 27 May will see most characters driving or being driven in a bunch of Mercedes-Benz and Maybach models.

Hyundai Kicks Off Countdown to 2010 World Cup with i10 Football-Themed Cars

Being the official car supplier of the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa, Hyundai is doing its best to associate its cars with the sporting spectacle that kicks off on June 11. This time Hyundai's UK arm commissioned the build of two football-themed cars.

Interestingly, these two i10s were previously used by Jeremy Clarkson in his DVD 'Duel' and ended up damaged. Instead of repairing the creased panels, Hyundai decided to give both cars a second shot at fame.

General Motors has announced that OnStar will be working with Google in order to help connect the Chevrolet Volt even more.

Google has some add-ons in development for version 2.0 of the upcoming Volt app. There will be a navigation tab that uses Google Maps with a lojack-type setup, showing owners' proximity to the car (and possibly solving the Seinfeldian parking problem for good).

Ford Hires Santos, a Virtual Soldier Turned Into Worker

After GM announced its R2 space robot, how long could it be before the Blue Oval had something futuristic to show off? Ford recently introduced Santos, a new virtual-reality stress-testing digital man.

Santos, derived from the Department of Defense's Virtual Soldier Research program, is Ford's next stage of virtual work assistance. He works in a simulated Ford factory and measures the effects of real-world stress by combining a "complete biomechanical muscular system" with "predictive dynamics".

Ford ergonomics technical specialist Allison Stephens thankfully explains it in layman's terms:

MG XPower to be Well-Represented at UK's Historics Auction

Set to hit the block at the UK's Historics at Brooklands event are these two MG XPower SVs.

The carbon fiber-bodied MG XPower Sport Veloce, based on the less aggressive X80 concept, was designed by Peter Stevens (responsible, among others, for the McLaren F1 and Jaguar XJR-15) and is underpinned by a platform from Qvale's Mangusta.

Powered by Ford's 4.6 liter 4-valve Cobra V8, the standard SV made 320 horsepower with an advertised top speed of 165 mph when new.

Roughly 82 of the rear-wheel drive MG coupes were built and sold to consumers before a lack of sales forced MG to stop production. At around £75,000 when new, it's easy to see how that could happen.

1966 Batmobile Replica Comes Under the Hammer at Auction

Yet another wannabe replica of the most iconic and distinctive film cars of all time, the 1960s era Batmobile, is going up for sale at the inaugural Historics at Brooklands auction in Surrey on June 2.

This particular example is based on a 1973 Lincoln Continental chassis and was completed in 1988, following input from well-known custom coachbuilder, Bill Chaplin.

But even though the 1966 Batmobile replica incorporates all the styling cues and Batman paraphernalia including an in-dashboard television, rear parachute pod, boot mounted exhaust pipes and Batphone, it's obvious that the car isn't a faithful replica of the original George Barris car that stared in the 1960s Batman and Robin TV series.

Super-Cherry 1988 BMW M3 E30 up for Sale

Here's another tasty classic for sale: a 1988 M3 Coupe with just over 47,000 miles on it (and my personal favorite color combo).

The car is bone-stock, but it's extremely clean. The leather looks nice and well-aged (although I've seen better in similar examples), and everything else shows really well in the pictures. For a proper analysis, I'd probably need to hold onto the car for a few days, or better yet, make that a couple of weeks in the mountains.

Here's the kicker: it's $32,500. The E30 M3 is a classic, to be sure, but could this one possibly be worth that much? This is a driver's car, not a museum piece. For that kind of money why not get a gray-market M3 Evo and have a really interesting investment?
