1991 GM EV1 or GM Impact Electric Concept Car

One of the first modern EVs was the General Motors Impact. GM changed its name and started leasing the GM "EV1" in 1996. This sleek looking car even set a World Record of more than 180 miles per hour! General Motors engineers and their outside consultants designed the EV1 from the ground up. The automobile combined lightweight materials, aerodynamic design, a system that recharges the batteries during braking, and sophisticated computer-controlled propulsion to create an electric vehicle.
